So UK Lips built a proper way to find fragrances by scent note — perfume and aftershave, ranked with live UK prices, without pretending you're a professional nose.
Thousands of our perfume and aftershave pages now carry a scent pyramid (or a flat note list when the description only gives us that). Each note that shows up often enough gets its own page — think bergamot, vanilla, sandalwood — with a product grid you can actually shop from.
On category pages you can also filter by note: open Filters on perfume, aftershave, or the fragrances hub and pick a scent note. Same idea as shopping by brand, except your brain said I want musk instead of I want Chanel.
How to use the note finder
From a product page: scroll to Fragrance notes. Chips are A–Z within Top / Heart / Base (or one flat list). Tap a note and land on every ranked fragrance that lists it.
From the hub: start at /fragrances/notes/, skim popular notes, or jump the A–Z list. Each note page mixes perfume and aftershave so you're not trapped in a gendered aisle that never matched how you actually shop.
From filters: on perfume or aftershave listings, choose a scent note and Go. Combine with price or brand if you're being fussy (we respect the fuss).
Top, heart, base — without the snobbery
Top notes are the opening handshake — citrus, herbs, light fruit. Heart notes are the middle act once the spritz settles. Base notes stick around: woods, amber, musk, vanilla. You don't need a diploma. You need to know whether you chase bright openings or warm dry-downs. Our pages keep the pyramid readable and link each note out so curiosity doesn't die in a PDF from 2009.
We pull notes from product descriptions (the boring DIY way — no mystery AI ingredients glossary stuffed into perfume). If a brand wrote marketing fluff instead of real notes, that fluff doesn't get a hub page. Fair's fair.

Do note pages cover both perfume and aftershave? Yes — one hub under /fragrances/notes/ so you're not forced into for-her / for-him silos.
Why isn't every single note linked? We only publish note pages with enough ranked products to be useful (and we skip marketing words pretending to be notes).
Can I filter and still sort by price? Yes. Note filter + sort works on perfume, aftershave, and the fragrances section hub.
Are notes the same as ingredients? No. Fragrance notes describe the smell pyramid. Our skincare ingredient glossary is a different tool for INCI heroes.
Will notes stay when prices update? Yes — scent notes ride with the product data through feed refreshes.
