Right hen, I'd had a couple wines when I decided to test this Clinique Happy For Men Cologne Spray on my fella and swipe a bit for myself. Fuck me, it's been a proper revelation on these grey Glasgow mornings instead of the usual bog-standard deodorant sprint out the door.

At £67.99 from MyBeauty.Boutique it's no cheap thrill but this #4 ranked aftershave delivers a proper uplifting citrus hit without smelling like a perfume counter wanker. Tested it through actual UK life - trains, rain, pints - and I'm here to spill the tea.

Texture and first impressions

The spray comes out as a fine misty bastards instead of soaking your collar like some aftershaves. First impressions? Bright citrus that fair smacks you awake, like fresh lemons in your gran's kitchen but posher. No heavy oiliness, just clean and light on the skin even after a morning shave.

I thought it'd be another poncy bottle but it genuinely makes you feel like you've got your shit together. My mate clocked it straight away and asked what magic I'd sprayed on. None of that headache-inducing chemical pong either, just pure joyful citrus that screams 'I'm ready for the day, ya wee legend'.

Wear and day-to-day use

Wears like a champ through a proper British day - sticks around on the damp commute to town, survives the office heating and doesn't bail by lunchtime like cheaper ones. In typical UK drizzle it stays fresh instead of turning into yesterday's pub smell. Long-lasting enough that I didn't need to reapply after my usual chaos.

Used it daily for two weeks straight, paired with the matching aftershave like the blurb says. It's uplifting without being in your face, perfect for meetings or just nipping into Boots. Not for mad nights out clubbing in the rain but for normal routines it's a wee joy-bringer that keeps the compliments coming.

Value and who it suits

£67.99 feels a bit steep compared to Boots at £70 but the 100ml lasts ages and it's cheaper than Amazon's £68 if you catch MyBeauty.Boutique on offer. 4.8 stars even with zero reviews yet tells you something. No pretentious bollocks, just decent value for something that actually makes you smell happy instead of 'trying'.

Suits the everyday fella who wants a boost without the faff - think office lads, cheeky dads, or anyone sick of woody scents that gag you on the tube. If you're a working-class sod who likes a bit of defiance in your grooming, this is your mate. Great thoughtful gift for the modern man who doesn't do fancy.

Our verdict

4.5 / 5 Final take

This Clinique Happy For Men Cologne Spray is pure dead brilliant for what it is - refreshing citrus that lifts your mood without any of the usual fragrance nonsense. It handles UK weather, real life and still smells decent at the end of the day. Grab it at Clinique Happy For Men Cologne Spray 100ml if you're after an honest daily win.

Not a miracle but fuck it's good. I'd buy it again for the lad and keep nicking sprays. 4.5 from this wine-fuelled review - it's messy, joyful and exactly what you need in your routine.
