I grabbed the No7 Good Intent Glow Guard SPF30 because my usual cream was making my face look flat and grey. At £7.95 from Boots it was cheap enough to test properly and it has climbed to number one in sunscreens on our site with a full five stars from 107 reviews.

Tested it morning and night for two weeks in proper Glasgow weather. One minute it is drizzling the next the sun is out. This stuff kept things simple and actually delivered a bit of life to my skin without any fuss.

Texture and first impressions

It is a soft feather light lotion that disappears in seconds. I squeezed a pea sized amount onto my fingers and it spread like a dream with zero greasy slide which is rare for SPF.

Straight away my skin looked fresher and a touch brighter. The added hyaluronic acid and aloe vera give it a quick hit of hydration and there is no added fragrance so it sits nicely under everything else.

Wear and day-to-day use

Wore it under light makeup on days I bothered and it stayed put through commutes and meetings. In typical UK sun it offered solid cover without that white cast you get from heavier formulas.

On bare skin days it evened out dull patches from too many late shifts. It never felt heavy even when I layered it after my usual moisturiser and the glow looked like decent sleep not a full face of highlighter.

Value and who it suits

For £7.95 you get 50ml that lasts well if you are sensible with it. With five stars across more than a hundred reviews it is clear I am not the only one who rates it for daily use.

It suits normal or combination skin best if you want something easy that adds a wee glow without pretending to be a miracle. Dry skin might want a richer base underneath but it still works fine.

Our verdict

4.5 / 5 Final take

This No7 sunscreen is a solid everyday winner that skips the nonsense and gets on with the job. It gives decent protection with a natural lit from within finish that actually lasts in real British weather.

Worth picking up at No7 Good Intent Glow Guard Spf30 50ml if you are after simple SPF that makes your skin look awake rather than caked.
